Workshop Details
What You Will Learn in the Workshop
・How to handle gold foil
・How to use adhesive designed for figurines
・How to apply gold foil
For most participants, this will likely be their first time working with gold foil. As such, there may be some areas left uncovered. To allow you to touch up at home, we will provide extra adhesive and gold foil.
If you’d like to apply gold foil at home, you will need the following items:
・A brush for the adhesive (a thinner brush gives better control)
・A brush for the gold foil (a softer tip gives a cleaner finish)
・Bamboo chopsticks or toothpicks
・A small container for the adhesive
・A small ceramic bowl
You can apply gold foil to almost any material. However, it is not suitable for surfaces that move, such as silicone or rubber. Please also choose a smooth surface.
Uneven textures made from plastic are acceptable, but for example, it is difficult to apply gold foil cleanly to unglazed pottery with a rough surface.
Gold Leaf Application Area:
Equivalent to 1.5 sheets of 109mm x 109mm gold leaf.
(Because the sheets can be seamlessly connected, you can cover areas larger than 109mm.)
Provided in the workshop and available to take home:
・Gold/Brass film:
Three sheets (109mm x 109mm) – one is for touch-ups at home
・Gold leaf adhesive for figures and Gundam models
Additional Gold/Brass film can be purchased at the booth.
