1. iPhone Kintsugi $1600
The first Kintsugi iPhone in history. Using the traditional Kintsugi technique, which until now has only been applied to ceramics, I repaired an iPhone for the first time. This work was presented in the AGO’s digital exhibition Portraits of Resilience (2021).

2. Azusa-yumi $1,000

This bowl was created around 150 years ago and donated by JCCC. It features a large Mount Fuji inside and a forest and birds are also drawn on the outside.
Mount Fuji has been an object of worship for a long time, and people have revered it as a place close to where souls go after death.
The title, Azusayumi is a spiritual bow used by a shrine maiden or sharman since the 8th century to summon spirits. Surely everyone has wished to see or talk to someone who has passed away. Therefore, I repaired this crack as Azusayumi, dedicating our prayers towards the spiritual peak of Mount Fuji.

3. Dearness $340
This is a collaboration piece with a local potter, Secret Teatime. It was broken in a kiln at once, but it was restored with kintsugi technique by Kintsugica. It’s a plate that enhances bonds in a close gathering with a cup of tea in hand.

Ryujin is a spiritual or divine entity associated with dragons in Japanese folklore and beliefs. In Japanese culture, Ryujin is respected as a guardian of nature’s forces and protector of water, and is sometimes honored in festivals and rituals. This plate was created by the second-generation Japanese Canadian, Chris Sora.
