Deepening Your Understanding

For those who wish to explore kintsugi more deeply, Kintsugica offers a structured learning path that combines cultural understanding with long-term practical study.

Our Educational Philosophy

At Kintsugica, kintsugi is more than a method of repairing ceramics.

It is a means of learning and practising the values, mindset, and discipline that have supported Japanese traditional culture for generations.

We believe that Japanese traditional arts and crafts, including kintsugi, cannot be understood apart from the history, culture, materials, and community from which they emerged.

For that reason, our classes are designed not only to teach techniques, but also to cultivate an understanding of the cultural context, responsibilities, and attitudes that accompany a living tradition.

Like other traditional arts and crafts, kintsugi is not something that can be mastered in a short period of time. Learning is an ongoing process, and every stage offers new opportunities for deeper understanding and continued growth.

Our Curriculum

Students begin with Kintsugi 101 before progressing to Introduction to Kintsugi Level 1, Introduction to Kintsugi Level 2, and ultimately the Regular Class. Each stage builds upon the knowledge, skills, and understanding developed in the previous one.

Introduction to Kintsugi Level  1&2

Through guided hands-on practice using a simplified version of the traditional process, students learn the essential vocabulary, techniques, and workflow required to begin the study of kintsugi.

Regular Class

Through the repeated practice of kintsugi, students cultivate patience, discipline, humility, careful observation, respect for materials, and the mindset that underlies Japanese traditional craftsmanship.
